Course Learning Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to:
- Identify at least five questions to ask to promote a trauma-informed and resilience-focused mindset when working with preschool-aged children.
- Identify the four main protective factors of resilient children.
- Describe how trauma affects the deep and outer brain functions specifically in an early childhood center.
- Identify at least five proactive strategies to implement in an early childhood center.
- Learn how to complete a trauma-informed, resilient behavior support plan.
Specialist Certification: All specialists must maintain an active StarrPASS Membership in their training content area. If your StarrPASS Membership expires, your specialist certification will be removed.
Continuing Education Credits
This certification is available in person or online. Continuing education credits are available for an additional cost of $60. 12 Social Work and/or 12 Educator continuing education credits are offered in partnership with Grand Valley State University, authorized by Administrative Rule 338.2963 to award Michigan social work continuing education contact hours, and authorized by the Michigan Department of Education to award State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs).
Starr Commonwealth has been authorized by two additional professional continuing education governing bodies: (1) National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) and (2) Texas Education Agency (TEA) for educators residing in Texas. For NBCC, Starr Commonwealth is an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 5768, to offer 12 continuing education credits to Certified Counselors. For TEA, Starr Commonwealth is an approved Continuing Education Provider (CPE) No. 902637, to offer 12 continuing education credits to Texas educators.
