Why is my child acting out or shutting down?
Every child’s perception and reaction to potential toxic stress is different. Often when we can’t explain a child’s behavior, it can be due to underlying trauma or stress. At Starr Behavioral Health, our clinicians work with children 0-21 years old to build resilience.
Starr Behavioral Health’s psychotherapy and intervention services provide social, emotional, and educational resources for children and families across the state of Michigan. Even in the most difficult cases, Starr builds resilience for all children, even those who have experienced:
- Neglect
- Physical/psychological abuse
- Sexual abuse
- Prenatal exposure to alcohol/drugs
- Exposure to domestic/community violence
- Removal from biological/foster family
Starr Behavioral Health professionals are Driven to Heal children by teaching how traumatic exposures have influenced development, behavioral functioning, as well as social/emotional health. In addition, we provide caregivers with understanding of strength-based interventions to address challenging behaviors and build resilience in all children.
