Resetting for Resilience

Begins 07/22/2020

Track: Course 2 – Educational Certification Track

Prerequisite: Trauma-Informed Resilient Schools (Conference Training) (eLearning Course) or Trauma-Informed Schools

Audience: Designed for anyone who works in a school setting – teachers, administrators, bus drivers, lunchroom workers, office staff, librarians, etc.

Starr Commonwealth holds its Trauma & Resilience Conference annually, to ensure as many people as possible have access to the best tools and programs to bring about meaningful change in the children they serve.

In this in-person training, participants will learn about the link between private logic and deficits in the Circle of Courage®, and how to integrate positive behavior intervention supports.*

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Contrast trauma-informed, resilience-focused discipline and traditional school discipline practices.
  • Describe the concept of private logic and provide examples of how private logic impacts behavior in the school setting.
  • Provide examples of behavior supports for students who do not have all of their universal needs met.
  • Name evaluation strategies to use to determine your schools level of trauma-informed and resilience-focused practices.
  • Determine your school’s progress of implementing trauma-informed and resilience-focused practices.

Included with enrollment:

  • Guidebook
  • CEs
  • Lunch

*This course covers the last 4 of the 10 Steps to Create a Trauma-Informed Resilient School, introduces Tier 2 & 3 supports, and provides an overview of how to assess and develop behavior support plans for students using the Circle of Courage® model. If you have taken the course Trauma-Informed Schools prior to 9/2018, there will be some overlapping content.
