Track: Course 2 – Educational Certification Track

Prerequisite: Trauma-Informed Resilient Schools or Trauma-Informed Schools

Audience: Designed for anyone who works in a school setting – teachers, administrators, bus drivers, lunchroom workers, office staff, librarian,  etc.

This course focuses on the link between private logic and deficits in the Circle of Courage®, and how to integrate positive behavior intervention supports.*

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Contrast trauma-informed, resilience-focused discipline and traditional school discipline practices.
  • Describe the concept of private logic and provide examples of how private logic impacts behavior in the school setting.
  • Provide examples of behavior supports for students who do not have all of their universal needs met.
  • Name evaluation strategies to use to determine your schools level of trauma informed and resilience-focused practices.
  • Determine your school’s progress of implementing trauma-informed and resilience-focused practices.

*Covers last 4 of the 10 Steps to Create a Trauma-Informed School and Tier 2 & 3 supports. Provides overview of how to assess and develop behavior support plans for students using the Circle of Courage® model. If you have taken the course Trauma Informed Schools prior to 9/2018, there will be some overlapping content.
