Trauma-Informed Resilient Schools

Track: Course 1 – Educational Certification Track

Prerequisite: None

Audience: Designed for anyone who works in a school setting – teachers, administrators, bus drivers, lunchroom workers, office staff, etc.

This course explores the core values and beliefs of educators, how trauma impacts children and their school experience, and provides 

proactive strategies for resilience.*

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to: 

  • Describe how trauma impacts the deep and outer brain functions specifically in the school setting.
  • Identify questions to ask to promote a trauma-informed and resilience-focused mindset when working with students in the school setting.
  • Identify proactive strategies for every classroom.
  • Discuss the four universal needs and provide examples to support each.

*This course covers the first 6 of the 10 Steps to Create a Trauma-Informed School, if participants have taken Trauma-Informed Schools prior. This course also includes portions from Courageous Classrooms/Courageous Connections.
